On why I've shut down comments on my videos
Comments on my videos generally fall into definable categories. Personally, I find them distracting. I don't make videos for dopamine hits nor am I interested in monetising my channel, so I rarely pay any mind to the number of view or subscribers, or any other metric. I make videos on what I consider needs expressing. However, being human, I'd get curious whenever I'd saw a notification of a new comment. And here are the patterns I've noticed: 1. Folk who encourage and write supportive comments, but rarely address the substance of the content. [ My broad response: Thank you for your encouraging and kind words. ] 2. Folk who want to bring my attention to (i) where I'm wrong, or (ii) another source they think I should be considering, or (iii) their opinion and pet theories.
