Mimir The Wise and the Realm of AI

Image
So, I began this little adventure by writing about the Fates. Then I slipped over to the Norns, as I'm digging in to the Norse side of things.  And I came to the startling conclusion that Odin's oracle, Mimir the Wise, is stored technologically in the clouds, Asgard-style. Myths are only couched in legendary and supernatural terms because the story writers did not have the technological framework we have today. If you're not familiar with the tale of Mimir and Odin, both were Æsir. Mimir was considered the wisest of them all, but Mimir aided the Jötnar, earning Odin's wrath. So after punishing Mimir Prometheus-style for a number of years, Odin then cut off his head, embalmed it with herbs so that it would not rot, and spoke charms over it, which gave it the power to speak to him and reveal to him secrets. The head was stored in the waters of the well at the bottom of the Yggdrasil tree ... where the Norns hung out. Odin would regularly consult with Mimir when seeking ei...

The Hooked X

Image
I've been intending to do a post on exploring the Hooked X symbol which is so important to the Karistus. That's what I'm going to be exploring here. And yeah, I know it's an ancient symbol, like duh . And don't just assume it's a Hindu/Sanskrit symbol. That's a lazy way to think about it. This symbol is way older and complex, as well as being way more far-reaching than just India. As I said, I've wanted to do a deep dive into the Hooked X for quite a while, but I didn't really have any handle on it, other than a collection of historic symbols. Then I came across this video which gave me something to juxtapose the Karistus symbol against ... and which gives me a starting point. If the video is unavailable, you can view it here . Click to read the online text of The Shadow Over Innsmouth by HP Lovecraft Dietrich mentions that the Hakenkreuz is a ward that holds back the anti-gods from destroying all life in the universe. Hyperborea Part 1 - The Art of Vsevolod Ivanov

Image
A translation from Russian from this site , so syntax is sometimes a bit stilted. Legend of ancient Hyperborea, it is one of the most controversial and intriguing alternative versions of history. True story or a fairy tale it is possible to argue, but Vsevolod Ivanov believes in it wholeheartedly. Strange Gods, domesticated herds of mammoths and the pagan rites of Vedic Russia - as the artist sees the mythic culture of our northern ancestors. There are so many stories about the options advanced civilization in the Far North. Some placed Hyperborea in Siberia, others at the North Pole, and others - in Greenland. Not taking an active part in debates okologeograficheskih, Vsevolod Ivanov simply paints a picture of the life of the legendary land. The series of paintings "Vedic Russia" is the only cause to which he devoted all his time and talent as an artist. Vivid and detailed scenes in a completely take away the real world created by his imagination. In the past 10 years, Ivano...

Slavic Vedic Art

Image
I need a place to place these, and similar images that bind together the mythic past with the present and the future. I'm not really an art expert by any means, so I can't make an intelligent comment on the style of this art, but it looks folklore-ish. The kind of art you might find in a book of fables and legends. But, personally, I think this is simplistic. The artists - I presume there's more than one - have hidden clues in plain view. At least that's my sense ... and why I find these so highly evocative, like they're resonating with a deep corner of my soul. As I discover the names of the artists behind some of these images, I'll add them below. Boris Olshansky     Vsevolod Ivanov  (also seen as Ivanov Vsevolod)   Temple by Ivanov Vsevolod
